Finding Steady Ground

In this Sunday's first reading (Jer 20:10-13), Jeremiah speaks to anyone who has ever felt alone, rejected, or misunderstood. Surrounded by those who hoped to see him fall, he placed his trust in God, confident that the Lord stood beside him "like a mighty champion." Even in his darkest moments, he knew he was not abandoned.
In Romans (Rom 5:12-15), St. Paul explains how humanity inherited sin and death through Adam, and contrasts this with the gift of grace, brought by Jesus, which opened the way to forgiveness, hope, and new life.
In the Gospel (Mt 10:26-33), Jesus offers a message we all need to hear: "Do not be afraid." As Jesus sends the Twelve on their mission, he reassures them that they are never alone. God knows them completely and cares for them deeply. If God watches over even the smallest sparrow, how much more does God watch over each one of us.
These readings invite us to place our fears, struggles, and failures into God's hands. When life feels uncertain, we can remember that God's grace is greater than our failings, his presence is stronger than our trials, and his love never leaves us. In a world that often feels unsettled, faith helps us find steady ground beneath our feet.
The world may shake around us, but faith keeps us steady. Trusting in the Lord allows us to move forward with courage, knowing that we are known, loved, and held in His care.
