Tiny Gratitudes

Birdsong in the morning,
Clean sheets in bed at night,
Crossing something off your list,
And well-timed traffic lights.

A friend who is a confidant,
Fond memories from the past,
The laughter shared at table,
The candlelight at Mass.

Delight in random compliments,
A warm mug in cold hands,
Sunlight through a windowpane,
And new vacation plans.

A baby smiling up at you,
A fridge that always works,
Soft towels after bathing,
The smell as coffee perks.

Tissues for a runny nose,
The text you waited for,
Slipping into comfy shoes,
Sunblock, and grocery stores.

In all these little moments,
The small and often missed,
We find a world of thankfulness
In each unnoticed gift.
