The Solemnity of Corpus Christi draws us into the mystery of Christ being truly present among God’s people.

In this Sunday’s first reading (Dt 8:2-3,14b-16a), God feeds the wandering Israelites with manna from heaven, teaching them to rely not only on earthly food, but on God’s sustaining word. That heavenly manna was more than sustanance for the desert journey. The hunger of Israel in the wilderness pointed toward the deeper spiritual hunger found in every human heart, a hunger that only Christ can satisfy.

In the Gospel (Jn 6:51-58), Jesus declares, “I am the living bread that came down from heaven.” At every Eucharist, Christ gives Himself again. Not a memory. Not a symbol. But a living presence for the life of the world.

In the second reading (1 Cor 10:16-17), Saint Paul reminds us that the Eucharist is not something we receive alone. Through the Body and Blood of Christ, we are drawn together into one body, united in faith, hope, and love. Though we come from different backgrounds, carry different burdens, and walk different paths, we kneel before the same altar and are nourished by the same Lord.

In a weary and restless world, Christ continues to feed hungry hearts with the Bread of Life. Within the Blessed Sacrament is the quiet heartbeat of God, still loving His people, remaining with us until the end of time.
